Frequently asked questions
Are your Krav Maga lessons suitable for beginners?
Yes, beginners are welcome to join our ongoing Krav Maga courses. As well as support from the group, they receive special attention and guidance from the trainer to help their progress.
What equipment will I need?
Dress comfortably in clothes that allow you to move freely. You will survive your first Krav Maga lessons without any equipment, however if you already have protective equipment for martial arts please bring them with you. For your and your partners safety you are required to have mouth guards, groin protection for men and boxing gloves as a bare minimum. Shin guards are required above beginner level. Forearm protectors and mma gloves are optional but recommended. Ask your trainer for bundle deals and discounted items and packages.
Are there showers and changing rooms at the gym?
Yes, for your convenience there are changing rooms, lockers, multiple showers and hot water at all our training facilities. However towels, shower gel and shampoo are not provided so bring those with you. Please note we only have a limited number of padlocks available for the lockers so it is recommended that you bring your own.
What to expect on my first lesson?
Please arrive 10-15mins early before the class begins. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your trainer who may ask you a few simple questions to understand your motivation and goals, training background, any health concerns we should be aware of and show you around the gym. You will participate in the regular training session to see if we are the right fit for each other. You will meet the other students in the group who can tell you more about the training, their experience with the classes and how they benefited from them. After the lesson the trainer will answer any questions you may have and if you decide to sign up you will fill out the registration form and schedule your starting date.
Can I still join if I am out of shape or if I have some injuries?
Yes, waiting to start training until you are in shape is like not letting a child go to school until he is smart enough. If you had any accidents, operations, medical issues or injuries in the past you are required to inform your trainer about it who will consequently ensure your well being and safety at the training and might ask you to do some exercises differently with your specific needs in mind. If you are simply out of shape, that’s fine, all we ask is to do the best you can, don’t be too hard on yourself and allow yourself to learn and grow. Push yourself to your limits on every class, and then a little beyond to facilitate your development and to expand your horizons. Your trainer and the group is guaranteed to support you and keep you motivated
Are all your Krav Maga lessons in English?
Yes, all our classes are in English without exception. We serve the international community in Prague, including Czech people, who can speak English and who are happy to train and share experiences with a wide variety of people from all around the world. We welcome all honest, decent people to be part of the Krav Maga Prague community and participate in our training program, however we stand strongly against criminal behavior involving violence and anyone suspected of using or intending to use the learnt skills for the wrong reasons will be immediately excluded with no refund offered.
How long does it take to learn Krav Maga?
There is no short answer to this question.
